Nicki Shorr, RN, BSN, CIC

Nicki Shorr has professionally toured the CHI St. Joseph Health hospital system since 1998, been a registered nurse since 2010, and a certified infection preventionist since 2018.  Her curiosity about the micro world, joined with a passion for learning and sharing information, took her out of the bedside intensive care nursing role in 2015 and placed her in the infection prevention and control realm. Since then, she thwarted microorganisms in the acute care setting and currently manages a long-term acute care quality and infection prevention program for a 23-bed “hospital within a hospital” in Lexington, Kentucky.  She is a member and secretary of the Kentucky BlueGrass APIC chapter.

During her free time, she advocates for underserved and vulnerable populations.  She believes there are always words to be read, people to meet, paths to be walked, recipes to create, roads to run, vegetables and herbs to plant, crossword puzzles to finish, and so many things in the world left to explore. And while she enjoys keeping mentally and physically busy, she has no problem lounging in her backyard hammock with a book and her favorite people: her husband, kiddos, and two fur pups (yes, she considers them people too).
